At the June 25 to 27 Grand Chapter conference in San Diego, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the city’s food, culture and attractions. Anthony Bernal, PACIFIC 2003, president of the San Diego alumni chapter, says that he couldn’t be more excited for his fellow Sigs to see the area for themselves.
“San Diego is where happiness happens,” says Bernal. “We are home to a robust economy focused on our military, manufacturing and innovation, and tourism. You can expect fun in the sun—weather in the mid-70s each day of the year.”
In addition to the events taking place at Grand Chapter such as the Significant Sig Award banquet and International Sweetheart Reception, Bernal points out a few local attractions that visitors should be sure to see.
“Families will be ecstatic visiting [the] San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, and Legoland,” he says. “If you’re coming into town with your pledge [brothers], check out the USS Midway Museum, reserve your tee time at Torrey Pines Golf Course, and see Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres and the 2016 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.”
“Being aboard the USS Midway is an awe-inspiring feeling,” he continues. “The flight deck is massive, and you won’t believe that it has two runways and that you can climb inside some of the planes.”
Above all else, says Bernal, visitors should see San Diego because “it’s America’s finest city for our weather, beaches, and family fun!”
