On Dec. 6, representatives of Sigma Chi International Fraternity Headquarters will oversee the installation of the Fraternity’s 244th chapter at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn.
International Fraternity officials expect to initiate 31 members of the colony into the Fraternity’s ranks, and will present the group a charter signed by 68th Grand Consul Mike Greenberg, ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 1982, signifying their chapter’s return to the Fraternity.
Originally formed in 1872, Sigma Chi’s Cumberland chapter lasted until 1880 before surrendering its charter. Saturday’s installation will therefore be the first time the campus has hosted a recognized Sigma Chi chapter in 134 years.
