The Sigma Chi International Fraternity’s Executive Committee has voted to suspend its Iota Upsilon chapter, located at Boston University, effective immediately and for an indefinite period of time. The General Fraternity suspended the chapter due to repeated policy violations in its risk management and pledge education practices, social behavior and for its members lack of adherence to the Fraternity’s Ritual.
Mike Greenberg, ILLINOIS WELSEYAN 1982, the Fraternity’s Grand Consul, or international president, released a statement shortly after the decision, saying: “Sigma Chi is committed to establishing a culture within all of its chapters where each and every member can have a positive and rewarding experience. Our belief in the concept of justice requires us to hold each other accountable for failure to live up to our obligation and the actions of the members of the chapter made this a necessary decision for the good of Sigma Chi.”
The Sigma Chi International Fraternity is resolved to holding its chapters accountable to its policies.
