Unveiling the Candidates for International Sweetheart

This summer, attendees at the 80th Grand Chapter, held from June 25 to 27 in San Diego, will choose from three finalists for the Fraternity’s International Sweetheart, to serve during the 2015 to 2017 biennium. The women are Cecilia Daizovi of Purdue University, Brynn Henderson of Pepperdine University and Kelsey Maggard of Western Kentucky University.
Daizovi, a member of the Delta Gamma women’s fraternity, studied public relations and strategic communication. She was recognized by the university’s president, Mitch Daniels, as one of the school’s 50 top student leaders, and was one of 15 students who were selected to participate in a policy class taught by former U.S. ambassador to Belize Carolyn Curiel and C-SPAN founder Brian Lamb. Additionally, Daizovi is an accomplished baton twirler, having won five U.S. grand national baton twirling titles, the highest award in the United States.
Henderson, a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma women’s fraternity, is earning a double-major in sports administration and media production with an emphasis in sports, as well as a minor in Spanish linguistics. In addition to being an active participant in the Pepperdine Sigs’ Derby Days and Merlin Olsen Day of Service philanthropic events, Henderson was on the university’s Division I cross-country and track and field teams.
Maggard, a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, majored in communication sciences and disorders, graduating with a 3.8 GPA. As sweetheart, she helped organize the chapter’s 2014 Derby Days philanthropic event, which raised $21,900 for the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) and led to the chapter’s induction into the charter class of HCI’s $20K Club.
“Selecting the Fraternity’s International Sweetheart is an honor and privilege for the undergraduate delegates at Grand Chapter, and we are thrilled to nominate three outstanding candidates in Cecilia, Brynn and Kelsey,” says Significant Sig, Order of Constantine Sig and 63rd Grand Consul Lee Beauchamp, TEXAS A&M-COLLEGE STATION 1975, who serves as co-chairman of the sweetheart selection committee alongside his wife, Karen. “No matter the outcome of the election, we can rest assured that the winner will represent Sigma Chi with honor and distinction.”
