Evanston, Illinois — Earlier today, we learned of an alleged incident of sexual assault that may have occurred in the chapter facility earlier this week at our chapter at the University of Arizona. We are grateful the survivor has come forward and our support is with her. At this time we have no specific information, including the identity of the person who has been accused. We have placed the chapter on an interim suspension and have begun an investigation.
We are working collaboratively and transparently with the University of Arizona administration. Sigma Chi abhors sexual violence of any kind and we take all allegations of this type seriously. We expect the highest level of conduct from our members, and if the allegations are substantiated, we will take appropriate actions against anyone who may have been involved in such an act, or violated Sigma Chi health and safety policies. We encourage anyone else who may have additional information to come forward.
