In recent weeks, representatives of Sigma Chi International Fraternity Headquarters have been onsite at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, to search for men to join what they hope will eventually become two of Sigma Chi’s newest chapters.
At Ohio University, Fraternity officials recruited 38 members to join the interest group, which is the name given to such a collection of potential Sigma Chis before the Fraternity’s New Chapter Development Committee (NCDC) approves their petition to become a colony, and later, a chapter. Meanwhile, at Bowling Green State University, Headquarters employees brought 18 men into their interest group.
“Our alumni of the Bowling Green State University chapter have worked for years to return Sigma Chi back to the campus,” said Nick Alvarez,FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL 2014, expansion coordinator at Sigma Chi International Fraternity Headquarters. “When we pinned each new member of the group, I could see a great sense of pride and happiness within each alumnus present. Being able to share that special moment with them was truly an honor.”
Undergraduates or alumni who wish to learn more about the group at Ohio University should contact Preston Lees, WESTERN ILLINOIS 2014, expansion coordinator at Sigma Chi International Fraternity Headquarters, at (847) 869-3655, ext. 254, or preston.lees@sigmachi.org.
