As we approach the winter holiday season, the Risk Management Foundation (RMF) reminds chapters to follow a series of easy steps to ensure that their chapter houses and property are prepared for the absence of brothers, and that threats of vandalism and theft are minimized. In order to make the process as simple as possible, the RMF has provided a checklist in PDF format that walks brothers through the actions they should take before leaving town.
In particular, the checklist mentions such items as removing perishable food; unplugging electronics; ensuring that all windows and doors are properly secured and locked; and that water pipes have access to warm air to prevent freezing, among others.
