On Feb. 9, 2007, the life of Chris Williams, UTAH 1985, and his family was irrevocably altered when a drunk driver caused a car crash that killed Williams’ pregnant wife and two of their children. His decision to forgive the driver is the basis of the new film Just Let Go, starring Henry Ian Cusick as Williams. The movie can be seen now in select theaters in Utah and Idaho, with new regions being added each week. Additionally, the film will be available for purchase at Wal-Mart stores at the beginning of 2016.

“Initially, I would want to make sure that the story was told right, but some of the early interaction I had with the directors just gave me that full confidence … to portray it correctly,” says Williams. “Watching the final product was incredibly moving, and I’m very touched at the message that’s being sent out and the lives that are going to be touched. It definitely drew me to tears many times.”

According to Josh Terry of the Deseret News in Salt Lake City, Just Let Go “gets at the heart of Christianity in a way few faith-based films have achieved. Rather than focus on the wonder of miracles or the existence of God, [the film] offers a powerful lesson on the nature of forgiveness.”

A more detailed telling of Williams’ story can be found in the fall 2015 issue of The Magazine of Sigma Chi.
