The Fraternity has awarded its Parents Club Award for Excellence to the chapter at the University of Texas at Austin. The award recognizes parents clubs that contribute in significant ways to their sons’ experience in Sigma Chi and their respective undergraduate chapters. Presented annually, it honors the support of parents for a chapter's operations, as well as the membership size and longevity of the club.
According to their award nomination form, the Texas-Austin Parents Club is heavily involved in coordinating the chapter’s fall and spring Parents Weekend events, both in planning and helping to offset some of the events’ financial strains. In addition, the club provides an incentive for members to improve their academics by funding annual academic achievement awards to brothers who meet or exceed a 3.5 GPA. Nominations for the 2017 award are due March 1; for more information, contact Julia Frazier, alumni engagement coordinator at International Headquarters, at (847) 869-3655, ext. 243.
