The Fraternity presented the 2018 Peterson Significant Chapter Award, its highest honor for undergraduate chapters, to more than 65 Sigma Chi groups at colleges and universities across the United States and Canada on Aug. 4 at the Balfour Leadership Training Workshop. Established in 1964, the Peterson Award recognizes chapters that achieve excellence in all operations, including academics, philanthropy, recruitment and Ritual performance.
The Fraternity presents two levels of Peterson Award: The Peterson Blue Award, which recognizes those chapters that score between 90 percent and 96.99 percent on their applications; and the Peterson Gold Award, which is reserved for those chapters that register between 97 percent and 100 percent on their applications.
The roster of winners includes familiar names such as the Louisville and Washington (Seattle) chapters, which have won the award 20 and 14 years in a row, respectively, as well as newcomers to the list such as the Tampa chapter, whose brothers are taking the award home for the first time in their chapter's history.
