The Fraternity has conferred its William T. Bringham Best House Corporation Officer Award on Karl Büttner, MIT 1987. Büttner has been a member of his undergraduate chapter’s house corporation since 1987, and was its president from 2002 to 2010. In addition, he was executive chairman of the house corporation’s Beacon to the Future capital campaign that raised $6 million to renovate the chapter house in 2014; the project earned the chapter a 2015 Preservation Achievement Award from the Boston Preservation Alliance, and was named the “fan favorite” among the award winners.
First presented in 1974, the Bringham Award is named for Order of Constantine Sig and Significant Sig Bill Bringham Sr., ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 1946, who was Sigma Chi’s executive secretary from 1954 to 1989. This award is given to the house corporation officer who has demonstrated outstanding loyalty to Sigma Chi through the leadership, time and effort he has devoted to the Fraternity. Nominations for the 2017 award are due March 1; contact Julia Frazier, alumni engagement coordinator at International Headquarters, for more information.
