With the end of the 2018 calendar year and the holiday season approaching, the Sigma Chi Foundation is highlighting giving opportunities to impact brothers in 2019 and beyond.
GIVING TUESDAY
Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving in the United States, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable giving season when many people focus on holiday and end-of-year gifts.
Whether a gift as small as $1 or as large as a White Cross Trust level $1,000 donation, a Giving Tuesday contribution to the Sigma Chi Foundation’s Annual Fund will immediately benefit brothers through programming available via the Fraternity’s leadership and membership development programs and Foundation-sponsored academic scholarships.
On Nov. 27, brothers and friends can make a Giving Tuesday gift using donate.sigmachi.org/givingtuesday and are encouraged to share their gift to Sigma Chi on social media using the hashtags #givingtuesday and #sigsgiveback.
AMAZON SMILE
Brothers and sweethearts who use Amazon for holiday shopping and regular purchases can contribute to Sigma Chi using Amazon’s Smile program.
By logging into smile.amazon.com and selecting the Sigma Chi Foundation as the designated charity of choice, a percentage of the proceeds from qualified purchases will be donated directly to Sigma Chi by Amazon.
Purchases through Amazon Smile have generated over $1,000 for the Foundation.
COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN
Active federal government employees and military personnel can make their tax-deductible contribution to Sigma Chi through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).
Raising millions of dollars each year, the CFC utilizes pledges made by federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season each fall to support eligible nonprofit organizations that provide human health and welfare benefits throughout the world.
The CFC is the only authorized charitable giving opportunity recognized in the federal workplace. Federal employees are encouraged to give charitably through this campaign via a payment plan that includes automatic payroll deductions. The Foundation’s CFC ID is 60773.

TAX-FREE IRA GIFT
An IRA gift is an opportunity for brothers and friends to make a tax-free contribution of any amount up to $100,000 annually.
This donation would not be included in the donor’s taxable income for federal income tax purposes and would satisfy the required minimum distribution for the year while providing meaningful support to Sigma Chi.
For more information on making a tax-free IRA gift, contact Foundation Director of Legacy Giving John Price, OKLAHOMA STATE 1991, at john.price@sigmachi.org.
