Seventieth Grand Consul Tommy Geddings Jr., SOUTH CAROLINA 1985, pledged Sigma Chi on Aug. 1, 1981, and was initiated on Nov. 14 of that year. Since his graduation, Geddings has served the Fraternity in various capacities at the local and international levels. His Fraternity Executive Committee experience includes two terms as the Grand Trustee representative from 2007 to 2011; Grand Quaestor, or international treasurer, from 2011 to 2015; and as Grand Pro Consul, or international vice president, from 2015 to 2017 until being elected the Fraternity's 70th Grand Consul at the 81st Grand Chapter in Providence, Rhode Island, on June 24.
Geddings earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of South Carolina in 1985, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1987. In 1988, he started his career in the legal field through the Clarendon County Public Defender Corp., where he worked as an assistant public defender. From 1988 to 1991, Tommy was an associate at the law firm Coffey, Cooper, Chandler and DuRant, and from 1989 to 2003 he was an adjunct professor at Central Carolina Technical College. In 1991, Geddings founded the Geddings Law Firm, where he remains as owner and managing attorney. He lives in Manning, South Carolina, with his wife, Jane, and is the proud father of William Geddings III, SOUTH CAROLINA 2014, and daughter Mary.
