Since November 2015, Sigma Chis on the go have had an easy way to connect with one another: the Facebook group Sigs at an Airport. Founded by Scott Bondy, TORONTO-RYERSON and WINDSOR 1997, and moderated by him and Don Copeland, STEPHEN F. AUSTIN 1989, Sigs at an Airport provides an easy way for brothers to connect when traveling.

“So many of our brothers travel every day, either for business or pleasure, and this group gives them a great way to reach out to one another in advance or at a moment’s notice,” says Bondy. “And the great thing is that brothers don’t have to already have a relationship to use the group to meet up. After all, it’s not about friends meeting up with friends. It’s about Sigs meeting up with Sigs.”

With more than 2,500 members added to the group in just seven months, Bondy remarks that he is hopeful it continues to serve as an avenue for Sigs to share in their brotherhood while on the go.

“As Sigs, we are taught to welcome each other with open hands and warm hearts,” Bondy says. “When I’m in an airport and I see a brother walking around with his letters on, I make an effort to reach out to them like an old friend. Where else but Sigma Chi can you get that type of feeling?”
