The Fraternity’s annual Balfour Leadership Training Workshop (LTW) will be hosted this year at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, from July 30 to Aug. 1.
“Balfour Leadership Training Workshop is Sigma Chi’s largest undergraduate event, and we’re excited to take it to a university like Bowling Green State,” says Executive Director Mike Church, ILLINOIS 2005. “Thanks to the hard work of the Headquarters and university staffs, we look forward to the 2015 event being one of our most successful workshops yet.”
Balfour LTW attendees spend the three-day workshop with counselors and advisors who help them to improve chapter operations and better understand the undergraduate offices to which they have been elected. After each day’s curriculum is completed, brothers can compete in athletic tournaments and events, play games and exchange T-shirts with those from other chapters, or learn about the Fraternity’s past in classroom activities taught by current and past Grand Historians.
In recent years, Sigma Chi has hosted its Balfour LTW events at the University of North Carolina, Purdue University and Ball State University. Balfour LTW has a long history associated with Bowling Green State University, as 11 of the workshop’s 69 instances have taken place there, most recently in 1995; furthermore, Balfour LTW’s first three events—in 1947, 1948 and 1949—took place there.
