Executive Committee Seeks New Undergraduate Reps

This summer, Sigma Chi’s undergraduate delegates to the 2015 Grand Chapter will select two of their own to serve as representatives to the Executive Committee (EC) during the 2015 to 2016 school year. To be eligible for the position, a candidate must be a member in good standing who has collected letters of support from at least 5 percent of the Fraternity’s undergraduate chapters. Then, at Grand Chapter, the undergraduate delegates present will vote for the two individuals whom they wish to see act as representatives to the EC.
Those Sigs who are elected will provide the voice of the undergraduates to the committee, while helping shape Fraternity policy on some of the biggest questions facing Sigma Chi today. “Working with the EC is a fun and great experience on so many levels,” says Ben Richardson, RENNSELAER 2015, who was elected as representative to the committee for the 2014 to 2015 school year. “I’ve learned a ton about how the International Fraternity works, while making my voice heard on matters that are important to me.”
Once elected, two undergraduate brothers will participate as voting members on the committee alongside the Grand Consul, Grand Pro Consul, Grand Quaestor, alumnus member-at-large, Grand Praetor representative and the two most recent International Balfour Award winners.
“When an undergraduate reads about the Grand Officers in The Norman Shield,” says Richardson, “it can be difficult to think of them as brothers, rather than figures. But working alongside them has shown me that they are first and foremost Sigma Chis.”
