Leaders of the Sigma Chi International Fraternity have chosen the finalists for the organization’s International Balfour Award, which recognizes the Fraternity’s most outstanding graduating senior. The finalists are Andrew Esstman, INDIANA 2013; Hunter Curtis, ARIZONA 2013; Jason Liang, WASHINGTON (ST. LOUIS) 2013; and Charles Wiles, SOUTH ALABAMA 2013.
Every year, members from Sigma Chi’s 241 undergraduate chapters select their most outstanding graduating senior to receive the Chapter Balfour Award. Those winners are then considered by Sigma Chi’s 55 regional advisors, called Grand Praetors. Each Grand Praetors selects a Province Balfour Award for his region. Recipients of the provincial award are then afforded the opportunity to apply for the international award. The winner of the International Balfour Award will be announced Aug. 3 at the closing ceremony of the 2013 Balfour Leadership Training Workshop, on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.
Past winners of the International Balfour Award include noted philanthropist Jon Huntsman Sr., PENNSYLVANIA 1959, and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Merlin Olsen, UTAH STATE 1962. The Fraternity has recognized both men as Significant Sigs and Order of Constantine Sigs.
