Sigma Chi International Fraternity ended the Krach Transformational Leaders Workshop held Aug. 1 to Aug. 5 at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, by recognizing the successes and improvements among undergraduate chapters across North America.

The highest honor, the 2023 J. Dwight Peterson Significant Chapter Award, was presented to 54 groups at colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

Established in 1964, the Peterson Award recognizes chapters that achieve excellence in all operations, including academics, philanthropy, recruitment and Ritual performance.

The Fraternity presents two levels of the Peterson Award based on a chapter’s application score, with chapters socring 95% or above on their annual report earning a J. Dwight Peterson Significant Chapter Gold Award and those scoring between 79% and 94.5% on their annual report earning the J. Dwight Peterson Significant Chapter Blue Award.

Other chapters received additional awards. The New Mexico State chapter received the Daniel William Cooper Award that honors the undergraduate chapter with the most outstanding scholastic achievement program and comes with a $5,000 scholarship. First runner-up is the North Carolina-Wilmington chapter with a $3,000 scholarship, and second runner-up is the Louisiana-Lafayette chapter with a $2,000 scholarship. The Utah, San Diego State, Ripon, Louisville, Clarkson, Bryant and Cal. State-San Marcos chapters were honorable mentions and received the Legion of Honor Award for their outstanding academic programs. The North Carolina-Wilmington and Louisiana-Lafayette chapters each additionally received a Legion of Honor Award. The Fraternity's Minnesota chapter earned the James F. Bash Significant Improvement Award.

The Fraternity also recognized its top Associate chapters with the Julio A. Varela Outstanding Associate Chapter Award. th associate chapters at South Carolina, Stanford and Alabama-birmingham earned this honor.
