Sigma Chi Wraps Up its 79th Grand Chapter

The Sigma Chi International Fraternity hosted its 79th Grand Chapter meeting, where delegates from its undergraduate and alumni chapters met June 27–30 at the Renaissance Washington, D.C., Downtown Hotel. At the event Sigma Chis elected a new slate of officers and passed legislation that included an undergraduate dues increase.
Leading the International Fraternity for the next two years will be former Grand Pro Consul Mike Greenberg, ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 1982, who succeeds Dennis Santoli, CASE WESTERN 1967, as Sigma Chi’s 68th Grand Consul. Mike Ursillo, BROWN 1978, was elected Grand Pro Consul, while Tommy Geddings, SOUTH CAROLINA 1985, was elected to his second term as Grand Quaestor.
The dues increase is the first one passed by the Fraternity since 2005, and leaves Sigma Chi with some of the most affordable dues structures in the Greek-letter world. The additional revenue will be used by the International Fraternity to expand Sigma Chi’s leadership programs, including the Balfour Leadership Training Workshop, the Mission 365 recruitment training program and the Horizons leadership development program.
Another significant election was that of Mary Sugden, who will serve as Sigma Chi’s 34th International Sweetheart. Sugden takes over for Sydney Binnington, who held the role from 2011–2013.
