Evanston, Illinois | Sept. 8, 2022 — Sigma Chi became an International Fraternity in 1922 with the chartering of our first Canadian chapter at the University of Toronto. Since that time, more than 8,000 men have been initiated into our Canadian chapters.

Today’s sad news on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II marks the end of a historic period of time for the world and Canada. As a Commonwealth nation, Canadians have had the absolute privilege of calling her the Queen of Canada as she served as Canada’s Head of State for these last 70 years. Her Majesty was widely loved and highly regarded and leaves behind an inspirational legacy underscored by integrity and wisdom.

Along with an expression of fervent support for our new monarch, His Majesty King Charles III, I extend my deepest condolences to all Canadian brothers on our shared loss.

In Hoc Signo Vinces,

D. Timothy Sanderson, WESTERN 1985
