The Sigma Chi Foundation’s Historical Initiative needs the help of volunteer brothers to complete the first-ever index of the complete run (1880 to present) of The Magazine of Sigma Chi. Now in its fourth year, our team has already completed indexing nearly 4,000 articles. This number, however, represents just a small fraction of the estimated 30,000 articles that The Magazine of Sigma Chi has published since its inception nearly 135 years ago.

We ask that each volunteer commit to indexing one issue and complete the index in a 30-day window. Indexing involves entering bibliographic information (e.g., publication date, issue number, title, etc.), as well as several other bits of information about the article. The work can be completed online at history.sigmachi.org/codex, and we provide a PDF of the issue for your use. We estimate that indexing each issue will take between three and five hours of your time. This is an ideal pledge class project or an activity for eager alumni volunteers, but all who wish to help are welcome to do so.
