In November 2014, Significant Sig and Order of Constantine Sig Jon M. Huntsman, PENNSYLVANIA 1959, announced his pledge to donate $5 million to finance Sigma Chi’s Horizons leadership development program for the next 10 years. The gift ensures that the four annual sessions of the Horizons program will benefit nearly 2,000 freshmen and sophomore Sigma Chis during the course of the coming decade.
“We are fortunate to have the support of the Huntsman family to help us continue providing world-class leadership training to our undergraduates,” said 68th Grand Consul Mike Greenberg, ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 1982. “Likewise, we are thankful for the positive influence Jon Huntsman has on all of our young brothers, who see how he treats cancer patients with compassion and how passionate he is about finding a cure for this horrible disease.”
Since 2005, Sigma Chi has partnered with the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI), during which its members have raised more than $2.3 million for research into the disease. The Fraternity recently affirmed its partnership with HCI as its official philanthropic partner through 2024.
