The leadership development department at Sigma Chi International Headquarters encourages any chapter that has not scheduled the Journey program on its campus to do so by the end of the semester. Chapters can book a Journey at any time during the school year that works best for maximum participation by its brothers.
Journey is a program that includes a set of local chapter retreats aimed to engage and support undergraduate brothers in a wide range of areas. The Journey program aligns with Sigma Chi’s mission to develop values-based leaders committed to the betterment of character, campus and community.
The first set of Journeys is focused on strategic planning — named the Strategic Visioning Journey — and managing positive change in chapter culture — named the Chapter Revolution Journey. It is strongly recommended for every chapter to host the Strategic Visioning Journey during the school year to build upon the chapter’s strategic plan created at Balfour Leadership Training Workshop. So far, 49 chapters have scheduled the Strategic Visioning Journey with another seven set to host it later this year.
Chapters also have the option to be a part of Sigma Chi history. The Fraternity is looking for chapters to become pilot chapters for new Journeys currently in development. If any chapter is interested in this endeavor, please request a retreat through sigmachi.org/journey-retreats. Sigma Chi’s Journeys that are in the pilot phase include: Strengthening Our Brotherhood; Recruiting with the Standard; and Risk Management.
