Mary Sugden of Loyola University Chicago was announced as the Fraternity's 2013-2015 International Sweetheart at the Sweetheart Reception June 28 at the 79th Grand Chapter in Washington, D.C. Sudgen will act as an ambassador for Sigma Chi for the next two years, promoting the organization's ideals of friendship, justice and learning, through visits to undergraduate chapters and involvement in philanthropy and key events.
Finalists for International Sweetheart were Sarah Alamshaw of Southern Utah University and Micky Pietkiewicz of the University of Memphis.
Sudgen is the first International Sweetheart from Loyola University Chicago; the chapter on campus was installed into the Fraternity on April 21, 2012. She is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma women's fraternity.
The first International Sweetheart was Barbara Tanner, who was selected in 1948.
