International Sweetheart Finalists Announced

The three finalists for one of Sigma Chi’s most prestigious honors have been announced.
Rachel Dobrozsi of East Tennessee State University (ETSU), Bailey Halpin of the University of Kentucky and Lauren Lewallen of Central Michigan University will each seek to succeed Allisen Hagemeyer as the next International Sweetheart of Sigma Chi.
Elected through the votes of the undergraduate delegate representatives to the 82nd Grand Chapter in Salt Lake City, the 2019 to 2021 International Sweetheart will be announced during the sweetheart reception at the Huntsman Cancer Institute on June 28.
The winner will act as an ambassador for Sigma Chi for the next two years through her involvement in philanthropic and key events, interacting with undergraduates, alumni and the community.
Rachel Dobrozsi, East Tennessee State University
Dobrozsi is a junior at East Tennessee State University where she is studying health sciences with a concentration in human health and has a career goal of becoming a pediatric surgical oncologist. She is a founding member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity chapter at ETSU, has served as a research intern and assistant at the University of Alabama-Birmingham’s Department of Surgery and the ETSU Department of Family Medicine with volunteer experience at remote area medical clinics and the Appalachian Service Project in Tennessee.
Bailey Halpin, University of Kentucky
Halpin is a junior at the University of Kentucky where she is studying business administration and marketing, and plans to pursue a master’s in physician assistant studies, specializing in oncology. She is a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and has served the University of Kentucky’s Panhellenic Council as its primary recruitment counselor. She has served as a medical assistant and intern at Lifestyle Resumption chiropractic and OrthoCincy physical rehabilitation care centers in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, and has volunteer experience with the Homeless Dinner Outreach and Ronald McDonald House organizations.
Lauren Lewallen, Central Michigan University
Lewallen is a junior at Central Michigan University where she is studying elementary education with a focus on social studies and history for grades K-8. She is a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity and the Sarah R. Opperman Leadership Institute, where she has served as a leadership guide and member of the institute’s mentoring staff. She is an afterschool child care volunteer for the PEAK program at Central Michigan and also is a member and coordinator of the university women’s chorus.
