The undergraduate Sigs from Birmingham-Southern College were presented the Daniel William Cooper Award at the Aug. 5 closing session of the Balfour Leadership Training Workshop at Bowling Green State University for having the Fraternity's most outstanding scholastic achievement program. In addition, the chapter’s brothers received a $5,000 grant to use toward furthering their scholarship program.

 

The second runner-up was the Princeton University chapter, and the first runner up was the chapter at Western Connecticut State University. They received scholarship awards of $2,000 and $3,000, respectively.

 

The annual Cooper Award is named for Founder Daniel William Cooper, MIAMI (OHIO) 1857, who was Sigma Chi's first Consul.
