Derrick was born in San Angelo, Texas, but he was raised in Brady, Texas. After graduating from Brady High School in 2016, he attended Link Year Prep in Branson, Missouri, where he studied biblical foundation. After graduating from Link Year Prep in 2017, he then attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas, where he studied business administration. He served his undergraduate chapter as its Consul, Risk Management chair and philanthropy Chair. While being involved in his chapter, he was a transition mentor and orientation staff member for incoming freshmen students. In his free time, Derrick enjoys working out, playing golf and watching sports.
