Foundation adds Kevin Miller as Vice President of Finance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EVANSTON, Illinois (July 24, 2023) — The Sigma Chi Foundation Board of Governors has announced that Vice President of Operations and General Counsel John Price, OKLAHOMA STATE 1991, has been promoted to President and General Counsel.

“On behalf of the entire Board, I am very pleased to announce the election of John Price to the office of President and General Counsel of the Foundation,” said Foundation Chairman and Significant Sig Jeff Gill, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 1978. “John has posted a strong record of success in increasingly responsible positions with the Foundation over the past many years. His intimate knowledge of our donor community, organization, Fraternity leadership and plans for the future will serve the Foundation well as we prepare to enter our 85th year of service in support of the young men of Sigma Chi.”

“I am honored to receive this opportunity to serve the Sigma Chi Foundation as President and General Counsel,” said Price. “I look forward to dedicating myself to furthering our mission and supporting the needs of Sigma Chi and our members across North America. Through our transformational leadership and academic scholarship initiatives, we have a great opportunity to expand our impact to more deserving young men and ensure Sigma Chi’s success for decades to come.”

Price joined the Sigma Chi Foundation in 2018 as its first director of legacy giving and was named vice president of operations in 2020. Upon arrival, he was responsible for planning and implementing the Foundation’s estate planning program, growing annual commitments to $4.1 million in just five years. In recent years, he has served as the secretary of the Foundation’s Board of Governors, managed the organization’s development strategies, and supervised its development officers and general operations teams based at J. Dwight Peterson International Fraternity Headquarters and across the United States.

Price was selected as president following an extensive national search led by Foundation Vice Chairman, Order of Constantine and Significant Sig Jeff Muir, GEORGIA 1971, and a committee of Foundation board members, a past Grand Consul and longtime retired Foundation executive.

Said Muir: “The search committee was blessed with a truly outstanding group of Sigma Chi applicants, making this a very challenging decision. We selected John based on his success in prior Foundation roles, excellent working relationship with the entire Sigma Chi Enterprise (e.g. staff, Fraternity, Sigma Chi Leadership Institute, alumni, etc.) and exceptional personal qualities of hard work, integrity, and interpersonal skills, exemplifying the values of Sigma Chi.”

Price graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1991 with a degree in history, received his J.D. from the University of Tulsa College of Law and is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association. Prior to joining the Foundation, he served as associate general counsel for the Oklahoma State University Board of Regents.

He and Suzee, his wife of 29 years, currently reside in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and have four children. Both of their sons are Sigs.

Quentin, OKLAHOMA STATE 2018, is a nuclear engineer in South Carolina and MacGregor, OKLAHOMA STATE 2020, is financial analyst in Houston. Their eldest daughter, Payton, graduated from Oklahoma State in 2021 and is pursuing a doctor of physical therapy degree at Washington University in St. Louis, while their youngest daughter, Ellery, is in her senior year at Oklahoma State.

While frequenting International Fraternity Headquarters in Evanston, Illinois, Price will travel across the United States to support the Foundation’s mission to impact Sigma Chi’s many leadership and academic scholarship initiatives.

“Thanks to the generosity of our incredible donors and the valuable time invested by our outstanding volunteers and talented professionals, Sigma Chi provides more value to our members than any other fraternity. Yet opportunities remain,” said Price. “Sigma Chi has ambitious goals, and we hope to earn the continued investment and support of brothers young and old to continue this great progress in our chapters across North America.”

The Foundation has also announced Kevin Miller as its new vice president of finance. Miller joins the Evanston-based team after serving as chief financial officer (CFO) for Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary on the campus of Northwestern University. Prior to that role, he served as CFO at Cara Chicago, an innovative NFP that helps disadvantaged persons build the professional skills and confidence necessary to finding and maintaining employment.

A graduate of both DePaul University (finance) and DeVry University (information technology), Miller obtained his Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He and wife, Emily, reside in Evanston with their two-year-old son, William.

Said Price: “We’re proud to welcome Kevin and are excited to have his expertise and leadership on our staff. His 15 years of multi-division leadership experience assisting non-profit organizations with their fiscal management, strategic planning and other initiatives will be beneficial to the Foundation and our mission moving forward.”
