Wayne Tucker Selected to NIC Board of Directors

The schedule of 66th Grand Consul and Order of Constantine Sig Wayne Tucker, BAYLOR 1985, got a little busier at the end of April. Tucker was named to the seven-person board of directors of the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) following a tedious interviewing process.
Tucker was one of 19 people nominated by member fraternities, and only three were elected. His interview included a screening process and a two-hour in-depth interview before the nominations committee presented its choices to the NIC House of Delegates for approval. Tucker was selected to serve a two-year term.
“I believe in the Greek[-letter] movement and I think that Sigma Chi has had a lot of success in a lot of ways. [With Sigma Chi] being the largest member of NIC, I think it’s important to take a leadership role in the NIC,” Tucker says. “It’s important that we work together to uphold the principles and standards of all of our organizations. It’s important for all of us to support each other and hold each other accountable.”
One of the first issues Tucker promoted with the NIC is its reengagement with the campus Interfraternity Councils. Tucker says there has not been a tie between the two organizations in 30 years. “We, as a board, have voted to commit resources to support the local IFC,” Tucker says. “There are a lot of ways we can move the NIC forward.”
Last June, Tucker also became a member of the Fraternity and Sorority Political Action committee’s 21-member board that is lobbying for the College Housing and Infrastructure Act that would make donations to house corporations tax deductible.
