Thirty Sigma Chi chapters from across North America were recently recognized for raising $20,000 or more from Aug. 1, 2016 to July 31, 2017, to support the Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI). The recognition came at the annual $20K Club induction ceremony at HCI on July 10 in Salt Lake City. Of the chapters recognized this year, those at Georgia Southern University and the University of Utah raised more than $60,000, garnering a spot in what is called the $50K Club. The 30 chapters in the $20K Club raised more than $850,000 collectively, accounting for nearly 60 percent of the total funds Sigma Chis raised for HCI in the 2016 to 2017 campaign.
“Making it into the $20K Club has become a goal that chapters strive for,” says Brandon Plewe, UTAH 2006, development officer at the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. “Raising $20,000 and joining the 20K Club is a great way to show off a chapter’s elite fundraising program.”
HCI established the 20k Club in 2014 to honor seven Sigma Chi chapters that went above and beyond their fundraising goals by raising more than $20,000 at each of their schools. Sigma Chi chapters from the following schools are included in the 20K Club this year:
