FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EVANSTON, Ill. (Oct. 4, 2024) — The Sigma Chi Foundation Board of Governors has announced that 68th Grand Consul Michael Greenberg, ILLINOIS WESLEYAN 1982, has accepted the position of President effective Monday, October 7.

“For more than four decades, Brother Greenberg has held every major volunteer position within our International Fraternity. He led the development of the Sigma Chi Leadership Institute and served a vital role on our Foundation Board of Governors, where he has played a crucial role in securing more than 90 percent of all transformational (seven-figure) gifts received by the Foundation since 2014,” said Foundation Chairman, Order of Constantine Sig and Significant Sig Jeff Muir, GEORGIA 1971.

“Our goals for the future are ambitious and we are proud to announce Mike has agreed to step into this role. He brings a wealth of executive leadership from his 30-plus years of successful business ownership, creating a $170 million enterprise. Moreover, there is nobody as well-versed on Sigma Chi’s leadership development initiatives and overall efforts across North America.”

With the new position, Greenberg, who served as Grand Consul during the 2013 to 2015 biennium, will exit his present volunteer role as Chairman of the Sigma Chi Leadership Institute (SCLI) Board of Directors, effective tomorrow, and shift to an ex-officio position on the Foundation Board of Governors.

Said Greenberg: “While it is bittersweet to step away from the Sigma Chi Leadership Institute and the fantastic work being done by our professional staff and volunteers, the timing is right for this next step in my Sigma Chi journey.

“I’m honored that the Board of Governors has asked me to lead a professional staff of exceptional people doing incredible things to secure the funds needed to elevate Sigma Chi for decades to come. As the Foundation enters its 85th year, it has never been more aligned with our International Fraternity and its strategic goals. Now is the time for our Fraternity and Foundation to start dreaming big.”

Greenberg has been a strong leader in the larger Greek community, including Past Chairman of the Governing Council of the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) and current President of the Fraternity & Sorority Political Action Committee (FSPAC). His leadership has been recognized with the NIC Gold Medal, the highest honor the NIC can bestow on an individual with considerable lifelong service to the interfraternal community.

Greenberg has also received Sigma Chi’s highest honors, including Order of Constantine, Significant Sig and Founders Circle, recognizing his lifetime giving and overall impact on the Fraternity.

“Brother Greenberg has served as an inspiration, guide and imagineer for the educational and leadership vision of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and Sigma Chi Leadership Institute, leading SCLI to become a pioneering force in interfraternal member development,” said 73rd Grand Consul Bob Wilson, FORT HAYS 1981. “He has been a driver of positive change for the betterment of Sigma Chi and our Greek-letter community at large, and I know he will continue to be an impactful leader for our Foundation.”

As the Greek-letter system continues to evolve and student costs rise on college campuses across North America, the academic and leadership development scholarship initiatives funded by the Foundation, including Sigma Chi’s Transformational Leader program, are in greater need than at any point in our Fraternity’s history. Greenberg is excited to help bolster these efforts and ensure our Fraternity’s success and growth for decades to come.

Please note that SCLI will make an announcement regarding the Sigma Chi Leadership Institute Board of Directors leadership in the near future.
