Forst Named Chairman of Foundation Board of Governors

The Sigma Chi Foundation Board of Governors has elected its leadership for the 2020 to 2022 biennium.

Significant Sig John Forst, GEORGE WASHINGTON 1984, has been named chairman.

Forst previously served the Foundation as vice chairman under outgoing Chairman and Significant Sig Joe Durzo, SYRACUSE 1967, and has been a member of the Board of Governors since 2013.

“We are grateful for the outstanding service of past Chairman Joe Durzo and proud to see the continuity of excellent leadership on our board,” said Sigma Chi Foundation President and CEO Ashley Woods, EAST TENNESSEE 2000.

Forst is a retired partner and deputy general counsel at Lord Abbett. Previously, he served as managing director and chief counsel for a large international investment firm, practiced law in Washington, D.C., in private practice and worked for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Significant Sig Jeffrey Gill, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 1978, was named vice chairman. Gill, a member of the Board of Governors since 2015, is chairman of the board, president and CEO of Sypris Solutions Inc.

Significant Sig Kim Caldwell, OREGON 1969, a retired executive vice president of Avery Dennison, was named treasurer.

The governing body of the Sigma Chi Foundation, the Board of Governors have traditionally met twice a year as a full board and throughout the year in various committees.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the related economic stress, Forst says the Board of Governors will increase meetings to remain responsive and effective. “We are agile, rigorous and results oriented in our response to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic as it relates to fundraising,” he says. “We’re keeping the focus on the voice of our membership, both alumni donors and undergraduates, to ensure we provide scholarships and fund high-value leadership programs for our undergraduate brothers — now and for generations of Sigma Chis to come.

“We remain dedicated to funding leadership programs that provide our undergraduate brothers with actionable and verifiable leadership skills and abilities. Our donors care about, and our undergraduate brothers want to see the results of these leadership development opportunities provided by the Foundation for our undergraduate brothers.”
