More than 300 brothers will receive a record $517,500 in academic scholarships from the Sigma Chi Foundation for the 2019 to 2020 fiscal year.
With this year's total, the Foundation has awarded more than $2.2 million in scholarships since the 2015 to 2016 academic year.
“We want to thank the many individuals who participated in the review process, including members of the Foundation Board of Governors, alumni volunteers and staff,” said Foundation President and CEO Ashley Woods, EAST TENNESSEE 2000. “Each year we see more young men achieving remarkable academic success and representing Sigma Chi to the highest standard on their campuses and in their communities. This year is no exception.”
The Foundation experienced an 18 percent increase in the number of scholarship applications received, and a 10 percent increase in the number of chapters represented.
Seven brothers received the prestigious $10,000 Founders' scholarships, nine brothers earned Sigma Chi Military awards and 85 brothers were represented through the Thomas Cowan Bell Chapter Challenge.
Forty-five brothers received graduate scholarship awards.
