Foundation Press Release

EVANSTON, IL — The Sigma Chi Foundation announced that its Board of Governors have elected Vice Chairman Jeff Gill, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 1978, as Chairman following the two-year term of Significant Sig John Forst, GEORGE WASHINGTON 1984.

Order of Constantine and Significant Sig Jeff Muir, GEORGIA 1971, was elected to the position of Vice Chairman. Forst, who became chairman in 2020, will remain on the Board of Governors.

The new roles became effective following the conclusion of the Foundation's April Board of Governors meeting in Atlanta.

“Brother Gill brings incredible leadership experience and a deep passion for Sigma Chi to the role of Chairman,” said Sigma Chi Foundation President & CEO Ashley Woods, EAST TENNESSEE 2000. “As Vice Chairman, he worked closely with Brother Forst and our Board of Governors as we navigated the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. He is passionate about Sigma Chi and our continued efforts to positively impact our young brothers across North America.

“As we look forward, we must also thank Brother Forst for his tireless service to our Foundation over the last four years as both Chairman and Vice Chairman. He carried the banner for our Foundation, was engaged and devoted to ensuring our success through the pandemic and beyond.”

Gill, who joined the Foundation board in 2015, is Chairman, President and CEO of Sypris Solutions, a manufacturing and engineering services company serving the defense, transportation, communications and energy industries. He brings extensive experience on public, private, civic, university and educational boards to his new role.

“Sigma Chi had a significant impact on my own growth and maturation as an undergraduate,” said Gill. “I know of no other collegiate experience that provides the opportunity for a young person to take responsibility, to be held accountable for outcomes, and to learn how to work with and lead others. I’m a firm believer in the value of the Sigma Chi experience and the positive impact that it can have on young men.

“Our brothers can and already do have an amazing impact on our society. Our duty at the Foundation is to raise the resources that will enable these exceptional young men to accelerate and expand their intellectual development and increase their commitment to the world in which they live. Working closely with the Fraternity, we will build that bridge for future generations.”

Muir, who joined the Foundation Board in 2014, is co-founder and chairman of Fulcrum Equity Partners and its predecessor firm Fulcrum Ventures. He is also a co-founder of Chatham Capital.

A longtime volunteer within Sigma Chi, he has most recently served as President of the Order of Constantine.
