Michael was initiated into the Fraternity's undergraduate chapter at the University of South Carolina (USC) on Jan. 24, 1998, and graduated from USC in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in history. He also holds a master's degree from Appalachian State University in college student development with an emphasis in student affairs practice. Michael has worked in fraternity and sorority life and Greek-letter housing for nine years on various levels and at various institutions of higher education. He has held additional roles working in leadership education and development, student involvement and housing and residence life. Michael served his undergraduate chapter as Quaestor and Consul and is a Balfour Award recipient, Life Loyal Sig, Certified Ritual Peer and has served the General Fraternity as a Grand Praetor for the South Carolina province.
As a regional chapter support coordinator, Michael works within the undergraduate services department to provide guidance to the Fraternity's undergraduate chapters in his region by assisting them and their volunteer advisors in fulfilling the goals set forth in their strategic plans. Serving as an ambassador for Sigma Chi, he works closely with the Fraternity's Grand Praetors, or regional governors, and Chapter Advisors to assist the undergraduate leadership with various aspects of their chapter's operations and facilitates relationships between the chapters and universities. Michael oversees region 10 which includes undergraduate chapters in the California Bay Area, California Central Valley, Oregon, Northwestern and Big Sky provinces.
