The Sigma Chi International Fraternity’s board of directors (Executive Committee) has voted to suspend the Gamma Sigma chapter, located at Auburn University, effective immediately. The General Fraternity suspended the chapter due to repeated policy violations throughout the last few years.
The Executive Committee voted to suspend the chapter’s charter for an indefinite period of time.
Michael Greenberg, Sigma Chi’s Grand Consul (international president), released a statement shortly after the decision, saying: “Sigma Chi is committed to establishing a culture within all of its chapters where each and every member can have a positive and rewarding experience. Our belief in the concept of justice requires us to hold each other accountable for failure to live up to our obligation and the actions of the members of the chapter made this a necessary decision for the good of Sigma Chi.”
The Sigma Chi International Fraternity is resolved to holding its chapters accountable to its policies.
