"The girl of my dreams is the sweetest girl, of all the girls I know ..."
~From the lyrics of The Sweetheart of Sigma Chi
Who is a Sweetheart?
Sigma Chis often refer to their significant others as "sweethearts," and undergraduates elect official chapter sweethearts each year. The Fraternity selects one International Sweetheart to serve as an ambassador to the membership for a two-year period.
The chapter sweetheart has the opportunity to make a great impact on the chapter that she serves. Former International Sweetheart, Amy Jackson, has created some resources for you to download. As sweetheart, you have a perspective that no one else in Sigma Chi can offer. Here are her tips about how you can positively affect your chapter:
The International Sweetheart of Sigma Chi has held a distinguished role in our organization since Barbara Tanner was first crowned in 1948 by Significant Sig John Wayne, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 1929. Since then, an International Sweetheart has been chosen once every two years at Grand Chapter. Each young woman has represented the ideals of the White Cross and lived Sigma Chi's core values of Friendship, Justice and Learning while making her own personal contributions to the Fraternity. Long after her official term is over, the International Sweetheart maintains a special place in the Fraternity. Click here to view a list of past International Sweethearts.
At the 2017 Grand Chapter, undergraduate delegates voted Allie Hagemeyer the Fraternity's 2017 to 2019 International Sweetheart. Allie graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2017, where she majored in architecture. She is a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and works at an architecture firm in Cincinnati.
You may email Allie with questions or requests for visits at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also contact Headquarters at email@example.com with questions for Allie. Please keep in mind that should you wish to host a visit for the International Sweetheart, the chapter is responsible for covering all of her travel expenses.
